Adriaan Boshoff Jnr – Impressionist
South Africa – 1967 –
It is a indeed bold endeavour when one chooses to echo the footsteps of a parent and when one’s father is an icon of his time who is critically acclaimed as one of the worlds best it can be a daunting task to attempt to establish one’s own credibility and recognition.
In the case of Adriaan Jnr. however the apple has thankfully not fallen far from the tree and in presenting his own style of modern impressionist art his often humorous and quirky interpretation can be easily identified. His adventurous spirit comes to the fore, somewhat in the manner of the classic genre of the cartoonist, particularly evident in his studies of “The Bikers”, which are no doubt inspired by the weekly visitations of motorcyclists to the Hartebeestpoort Dam in the North West of SA, where he lives (grew up ????) . This work alone attracts the appreciation of younger and modernist collectors and firmly places Adriaan in a niche of his own.
Whilst Adriaan Boshoff Jnr has yet to plant his flag alongside that of his father on top of the Everest of the art world, his progress thus far is way above base camp and the deserved recognition of his individual ability will undoubtedly sustain him and add fuel to that journey.
