Born on a farm in Zimbabwe in 1941, which started a real love for wildlife. Started painting in 1955 and sold the first painting for 7/6d or 75c in those days. Accepted for Teachers Training College to teach art in 1960 but had to change direction the following year for military duty. The years that followed were easy years, painting for pleasure only and not for profit.

A career in industry was necessary, but the painting continued. First real exhibition in 1970 with the entire display of 43 paintings sold. Numerous smaller exhibitions followed. A small but steady market in the U.S.A, established which has been continuous for 10 years. Arrived in South Africa in 2005 and started full time painting in 2006.

Numerous small exhibitions in Polokwane, pushing the name out there and slowly being recognized. November 2006. Big change takes place as 'John West Art Galleries' accepts work!!!!!
